WALTERBORO: Gloria Doris Hoats Alicia died Wednesday afternoon at Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. She was 83.
Gloria was born in Charleston August 28, 1928 a daughter of the late Viola Hoats Mitchum. She was a former employee of the American Tobacco Company in Charleston and the Carter-Moore Processing Company in Summerville. She was a member of the Walter Street Christian Church in Corinth, MS and was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed embroidery and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Candice A. Allen (Danny) of Whitney, TX and by a son Anthony Alicia of Fayettville, NC. She has one sister, Francis Avant Bradshaw of Corinth, MS, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marvette Moore, and by two brothers, Marion and Julian Hoats.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
