Obituary

RUFFIN:  Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Crehore Cummings, 89, of Ruffin, passed away peacefully at home with her family on December 29, 2021.

Born June 18, 1932, in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Susan and Walter Crehore. At age 14, the family moved to Greenwood, SC. Ann attended Furman University and Lander College. While at Furman, she met Henry A. Cummings of Ruffin. They were married in 1952 and were blessed with sixty-two years together. Ann's passion for pictures, writing and documenting events led her to compile a detailed family history.

Ann had a deep love for the Lord and enjoyed music and worship. She was a member of Rock Solid Church. For 25 years she enjoyed being a part of  Living Word Church, where she was in the Eagle Saints Ministry. She believed in the power of prayer, and her commitment to praying for her family has impacted generations.

She is survived by her three children, Suzanne Cummings Martin and her husband Allen of Ruffin, H. A. "Sonny" Cummings, Jr. of Ruffin, and W.J. "Skip" Cummings and his wife Roxane of Cope. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bonnie Sade, Richard Sheffield II (Robin), Robby Cummings (Lindsy), Jeanna Sisler (Heath), Andrea Michel (Rick), Allyn Anne Terry (Al), Riley Cummings (Tara) and Kristyn Holland (Kevin); 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great�grandchildren. Additional survivors include a number of nieces and nephews and her special friend and caregiver Evelyn Robertson.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of sixty-two years, and Janie Brown, a good friend and spiritual mother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, January 1, 2022 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Glendale Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
