COTTAGEVILLE:     Archie B. Platt, affectionately known to his family and friends as "Santa", passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2026 at his home under hospice care.  He was 77.

Archie was born in Summerville July 15, 1948 a son of the late Alonzo B. Platt and the late Hazel Mitchum Platt.  He spent his childhood years in Knightsville, where he learned how to hunt and fish and enjoy the natural world.  He was a truck driver for Knight's Company for 28 years.  When not working, he loved to dance and cook for his family and friends.

Archie is survived by his wife Jennifer Platt.  He leaves behind his daughter Holly Gay (Billy), and grandchildren William, Alexandra and Jackson, and his second daughter Tracy Platt.  He is survived by his step-son David Ardon Wine (Jessica), and grandchild Arabelle.  He is also survived by his siblings Shirley Walker, Joyce Mitchum (Bill), Victoria Ellis (Don), Kathy Locker (David) and Gary Platt (Sheree).  In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Owens.

Friends are invited to share stories and visit with the family during a time of remembrance Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2026, from 3:00 until 5:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
