Obituary

WALTERBORO :       Barbara Ann Ballard passed away at her home in Walterboro Tuesday evening, May 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family under the care of Agape Hospice.  She was 72.

Barbara was born in Charleston April 3, 1946 a daughter of the late Horace Hollis Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Brown Hollis.  She was a retired employee of the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.  She loved music, shagging, and spending time outdoors and at the beach.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by the "love of her life" and companion of thirteen years, Mike Calhoun.  She has four children:  Bill Ballard Jr. (Pam) and Trisha Loftis (Josh) of Walterboro, Kim Butler (Jimmy) of Varnville, and Robyn Sanders (Chip) of Texas.  She has four siblings:  Gladys Sill, of Moncks Corner, Mike Hollis (Cindy) of Tennessee, Donna Dunn of Summerville, and Horace Hollis Jr. of Tennessee.  There are ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  Barbara was preceded in death by two brothers, James R. and Timothy Charles Hollis, and by a sister, Andrea Joyce Williams.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt love appreciation to Agape Hospice, and to the nurses Stephanie Catterton and Jim Shinta for the excellent care given to Barbara during her extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
