Barbara Ruth Pinckney Calkins, 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Barbara was born on October 9, 1934, in Charleston, South Carolina, to William Nicholas Pinckney Jr. and Mary Emily Glover Pinckney.

Barbara worked in an administrative position with the Credit Bureau of Greater Charleston and was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church of Summerville, South Carolina. She was also a proud member of the American Legion of James Island, South Carolina, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary to the MOC. Barbara served as treasurer and secretary of the German Shepherd Club of Charleston, South Carolina, and was active in the Women's League of Ashley Bowling Lanes in Charleston.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Arthur Calkins; her parents, William Nicholas Pinckney Jr. and Mary Emily Glover Pinckney; her sister, Vera Pinckney Corrida and one grandson.

Barbara is survived by her children, Kenneth Michael Ashley, Barbara Elizabeth Ashley Sharp, and Amy Lou Ashley Gause; her seven grandchildren; her seventeen great-grandchildren and her eight great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside services will be held Saturday morning, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
