WALTERBORO:     Mrs. Bernice Craven Nettles, wife of the late Walter Carol Nettles, passed away Monday morning, August 31, 2020 at the Pruitt Health Care Center in Walterboro.  She was 89.

Mrs. Nettles was born in Walterboro June 22, 1931 a daughter of the late Howell and Sally Craven.  She was a retired employee of Smoaks Manufacturing, where she worked as both a seamstress and an inspector.  She was also the former owner of Jacaras Flower Shop.  Mrs. Nettles was a member of the North Walterboro Baptist Church, where she dearly loved her church family.  She enjoyed gardening, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Carol "Ricky" Nettles (Carla) and Greg Nettles of Walterboro.  There are three grandsons, Ricky, Will and Jaime Nettles, as well as six great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons Chris and Larry Nettles, by a brother Perry Alfred Craven, and by a sister Rachel Craven Segars.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning, September 2, 2020 at 11:00 at the Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
