RUFFIN :     Mrs. Betty Kathleen Culley Thomas Matthews, widow of the late Harold Lee Matthews, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, September 1, 2025 at her home in Ruffin, under hospice care, at the age of 88.  She was born May 20, 1937 in Rockingham, NC, a daughter of the late Walter Hubert Culley, and the late Catherine Taylor Culley.  She spent her career working in the restaurant industry, and she enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her yard and caring for her flowers.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Anne Rivers, by her step-daughter Patricia Lynn Cheek, by five grandchildren, and by a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Friday afternoon, September 5, 2025 from 12:00 until 1:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  Committal services will be held at 2:30 that same afternoon at Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC  29461.
