Bobby "Buck" Dean Dunn, of Ruffin, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1939, to Albert B. Dunn and Sadie Nettles Dunn of Walterboro, SC. Bobby was a skilled sheet metal worker and company owner in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He also served as a construction supervisor for nuclear power plants in Alabama, Connecticut, and Virginia. In addition, Bobby was the owner of Quality Tire in Summerville, SC, for eighteen years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Athelda Preacher Dunn, of Ruffin, South Carolina; his beloved daughter, Cristy Duffie, and her husband, Bert Duffie, of Walterboro, SC; his beloved son, Chad G. Beckett, and his wife, Heather Beckett, of Charleston, SC; his daughter, Linda Kay Dejong, of Bradenton, Florida; and his two beloved grandchildren, Holden and Caroline Duffie. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Dunn Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bobby was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Ruffin, where he served as a trustee, men's club leader, and Sunday school teacher. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, farming, fishing, and, most importantly, his family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024 at 10:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 at the funeral home, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bobby's memory to Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
