COTTAGEVILLE :     Mr. Robert "Bobby" Young, husband of the late Faye Howell Griffith Young, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, January 28, 2023 at the home of his son Kevin, under hospice care, with his family beside him.  He was 78.

Bobby, or "Grandaddy Bobby" as he was affectionately known by many in the community, was born in Savannah, GA July 15, 1944 a son of the late Robert Young and Lois Elizabeth Matthews Young.  He was a 1963 graduate of Cottageville High School…which was the last class in the school's history.  Bobby retired from the SCE&G plant at Canadys after thirty years of service as an employee of Prime South/PPM.  He was a former mayor and municipal judge for the town of Cottageville, and also managed the Texaco Station for many years.

Bobby was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in the woods hunting or on the water fishing.  He was a member of the Cottageville United Methodist Church and the Cottageville Round Lodge #270.  Bobby possessed an outgoing personality and an infectious smile and he dearly loved his community and the people in it.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed always by his family and friends.

Bobby is survived by two sons, Rob Young and wife Kristy of Destin, FL, and Kevin Young and wife Tina of Cottageville.  There are six grandchildren:  Hallie Young and wife Elizabeth, Payton Young, Keefer Young, Elliott Young, Elizabeth Owens and husband Vernon, and Jenna Griffith.  Bobby leaves behind seven great-grandchildren:  Ellyson, Mills, Kayden, Kambree, Bryleigh, Dowe and Harper.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2023 at 2:00 at the Cottageville United Methodist Church, with burial immediately following in the Cottageville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 in the church sanctuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cottageville Cemetery, c/o Stephanie Fuller, P.O.B. 205, Cottageville, SC  29435.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
