Round O :   Calvin Junior Sharp died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Hospice of Charleston Center in Mount Pleasant. He was 73.

Calvin was born July 22, 1944 in Marlinton West Virginia, the oldest son of the late Calvin Harding Sharp and Ethel Morgan Sharp.  He graduated from Marlinton High School, and then attended Potomac State College in Keyser, WV. After two years, he transferred to West Virginia University School of Forestry in 1970 where he received a B.S. degree in Forest Management. He received his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Webster University in Charleston, South Carolina. Immediately after graduating from WVU he became employed by the Westvaco Corporation Timberlands Division in Summerville, South Carolina, where he worked until his retirement.

Calvin was a member of the Forestry Association of South Carolina, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Walterboro. Calvin had a passion for gardening, and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with all his friends and neighbors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and won several fishing tournaments over the years. He loved going to Colorado to hunt every year with family members and friends, and he enjoyed going back to his hometown in West Virginia to attend his high school class reunions, and to bear hunt. His favorite song was "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.

Calvin is survived by his two children, Lucinda "Cyndee" Shaffer (Bobby) of Walterboro, and Calvin Timothy Sharp (Michelle) of Mount Pleasant, and by a step-daughter, Tammy Beach Crosby Peters of Round O. He is survived by the mother of his children, Dians Kerr Sharp of Walterboro. There are three granddaughters: Atlanta Mardrae Therrell, Caroline Marjorie Sharp, and Courtney Anne Sharp. There are also three step-grandchildren: Tanner Crosby, Kayleigh Peters, and Pete Peters. Calvin leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Avery, Angel, and Keenan.  He has two brothers, Teddy Eugene Sharp (Sue) and Billy Joe Sharp, both of West Virginia, as well as one sister, Robin Louise Rasmussen (Nelson) of Weems, Virginia. There are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Freddie Sharp.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all those that helped with transportation to and from appointments to doctors, and for all the visits and phone calls this past year. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity or organization of one's choice.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 at the funeral home.
