WALTERBORO: Mr. Carl Edward Crosby passed away at his home Sunday evening after an extended illness under the care of Hospice of Charleston. He was 76.
Carl was born in Walterboro September 25, 1940 a son of the late Riddick A. Crosby and Georgie Mae Seigler Crosby. He was a Planner/Estimator for the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, and was also a self-employed carpenter. Carl served for eight years in the South Carolina Army National Guard, and was perhaps best known as an employee at Benton's Feed and Seed in Walterboro for over twenty-two years. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church, and was an avid fan of old westerns.
He is survived by a son, Chad E. Crosby, and by a granddaughter, Aaliyaa, of Walterboro. He leaves behind five siblings: Legare Crosby, Paul Crosby, Lorene Padgett, and Julia Warren, all of Walterboro, and Betty Jackson of Lugoff. He is also survived by his special caregiver and niece, Angela C. Hiott.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery, or to the Guideons International.
