Obituary

Charles Delano Kinard Sr., age 91, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born and raised in Walterboro, SC. After graduating from Walterboro High School, he joined the Air Force. He served in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his return home, he met and married the great love of his life, Martha. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. He spent the next 30 years working for the IRS. He is a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and longtime fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Duncan Kinard and Ethel Breland Kinard; sisters Ethel Malovene Kinard Bailey, Lula Jeanette Kinard Turnipseed, and Catherine Ann Kinard Heap; brothers George Duffie Kinard, Leon Duncan Kinard, Robert David Kinard, and Joseph Dwight Kinard; and his son Charles Delano Kinard Jr. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Kinard; daughter Grace Kinard Herndon (Steve) of Jupiter, FL; daughter Jane Ann Kinard of Franklin, TN; granddaughters Desiree' Kinard Hodges (Walt), and Kirstin Herndon (Derrick Spear); great grandsons Preston and Liam Spear; brother Dennis Kinard (Nancy) and sister Helen Kinard of Walterboro, SC, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 12:00 pm, at Bethany Cemetery in Charleston, SC. The family would like to thank the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin, TN, as well as Heart and Soul Hospice, for their loving care and support over the past several months. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heart and Soul Hospice, 51 Century Blvd, Suite 110, Nashville, TN 37214.
