COTTAGEVILLE: Charles Everett Rogers, husband of JoAnn Garvin Rogers, passed away Saturday evening, July 27, 2024 at his home in Cottageville at the age of 77. "Chuck", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was born in Waukegan, Illinois September 4, 1946 a son of the late Clarence and Barbara Hatton Rogers. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from high school, and spent his career stationed on many ships including the USS Massey, the USS Robinson, the USS Lynde McCormack, the USS Dewey, and the USS Sierra. He rose through the ranks and received various commendations and awards before retiring with the rank of First Class Petty Officer (E6). After his service to his country, he used the skills he learned in the Navy, and became employed as a Boilermaker for Albright and Wilson in Charleston.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters Janie Hollingsworth and Eileen Mason, and by his brother George Rogers. There is a host of extended family to include cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, that he loved dearly.
Mr. Rogers was interred privately at the Beaufort National Cemetery. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro was in charge of arrangements.
