Charles Allen Strickland, beloved husband of Martha Munn Strickland, passed away peacefully at his home in Walterboro, SC on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Amedisys Hospice, following a lengthy illness. He was 73.

Born February 28, 1953, in Colleton County, Charles was the son of the late Carlisle Strickland and Mary Jo Reeves Strickland. He graduated from Walterboro High School in 1970 and continued his education at the Baptist College, TKA, and the College of Charleston, where he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha brotherhood.

Charles dedicated many years to the dry-cleaning industry as the owner and operator of Strickland's Dry Cleaners in Walterboro, SC. In retirement, he discovered a deeply meaningful second career as a deputy with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office. Serving his community alongside his fellow officers brought him great pride and fulfillment, and he cherished the eight years he spent in law enforcement. His call sign was B-815, and his watch has now sadly ended. Known for his kind and gentle nature, Charles made a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be remembered fondly throughout the community.

In addition to his devoted wife of forty-nine years, he is survived by his son, Kyle Strickland (Leah) of Walterboro, who was the pride and joy of his life; his granddaughters, Anna Strickland and Kate Strickland, who brought him endless happiness and were his sunshine; along with three cherished bonus grandchildren, Ally Smoak (Reese), Rachel Wright, and Jaxson Wright. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Dr. John Munn and Dr. Jim Munn, his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Munn and Linda T. Strickland, and a host of treasured nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Strickland and Robert "Micky" Strickland.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro. Following the service, the family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life reception at the Walterboro Wildlife Center. Carter was a cherished classmate of Kate Strickland, Charles' granddaughter.
