RUFFIN :    Lora Christine "Chris" Peters, wife of Allen Peters Sr., passed away Monday morning, May 10, 2021 at her home in Ruffin, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 52.

Chris was born in Walterboro December 7, 1968.  She was a graduate of Walterboro High School, and then became a licensed cosmetologist.  Many years later, she opened her own Housekeeping business, and was responsible for maintaining homes all across Edisto Beach and Edisto Island until her health declined.  Chris possessed an outgoing and loving personality and will be missed by all who knew her.  She loved her cats and dogs, fishing, spending time at the beach, but most importantly she cherished her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Lora Bryan Vitello, and by her children Angel Peters and Allen "A. J." Peters Jr. (Haley Davis).  She has a sister, Ashley V. Preacher (Joe), and four grandchildren:  L.C. Williams, Ava Williams, Allen Peters III, and Allie Peters.  She leaves behind her uncle Mitchell Bryan (Mary Ellen), and her mother-in-law Jeanette Bailey (Gerald). She is survived by three nephews and a niece:  Aiden and Austin Smoak, and Rowan and Alexander Preacher.  Chris was preceded in death by her father-in-law Willis Nolind, and by her maternal grandparents Henry Graham Bryan, Katherine Black Herndon, and Felix Herndon.

A memorial service will be held Friday evening, May 14, 2021 at 6:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS), 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, SC  29488.
