The family of David Terras Armstrong of Walterboro, SC (formerly of Windsor Locks and Suffield, CT) is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, November 18th at the age of 83. He left this world peacefully while surrounded by his family in his home.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly sixty years, Lorraine Guynup Armstrong; his children: Beth Armstrong Zapatka (Michael) and David John Armstrong; grandchildren: Alexa Armstrong and Madison, Olivia and Adam Zapatka; his brother Roger Armstrong, sister Anne Armstrong, sister-in-law Beverly Irish and brother-in-law Kenneth Guynup as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother James Armstrong and parents Roger Terras Armstrong and Grace Cullity Armstrong.

David was a proud member of the class of 1959 from St. John Prep in Danvers, MA and a 1964 graduate of UCONN. He spent his career in and among plants, trees and shrubs culminating in own successful and rewarding wholesale nursery – David T. Armstrong Nursery – which he ran from 1972 until his retirement in 2012.

The family thanks Gentiva Hospice for their caring and compassionate treatment of David during his illness.

A memorial service will be held at Rocksolid Church, 264 Bells Highway, Walterboro, SC, at noon on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
