RUFFIN: Mrs. Deborah D. “Debi” Walling, wife of Timothy A. “Tim” Walling, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, August 26, 2026 at Roper St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley after a brief illness, with her husband by her side. She was 74.

Debi was born in Charleston September 26, 1951 a daughter of the late John and Ann Thomson DuBose. She was a familiar face at the Colleton Medical Center where she worked as a business manager in the administration office. For many years, Debi served as a foster mother to children in the area, a calling that she dearly loved. She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ on Live Oak Street in Walterboro, she cared for cats throughout her entire life, and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband of 28 years, Debi is survived by her son, Michael Hawkins (Amy), and by her grandchildren, Annaliese Louise Haithcock (Christian), and Dillon Hawkins. She leaves behind her mother-in-law Carol Benton Walling, her sister-in-law Phyllis W. Bridge, and her brothers-in-law Charles “Chuck” Walling (Sandy), and Mark Walling (Robin). She is survived by her very special friend Mary Jordan, and by her sisters Elizabeth “Liz” Perlman (Jerry), Cindy Stivender (Bill), and Janis Headden (Alroy). There is a host of nieces, nephews and extended family that loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Friday evening, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00, at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel Saturday morning at 10:00, with entombment immediately following in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
