Obituary

Margaret Dora Beach Bryan, affectionately known to many as "Nanny", widow of the late Harry Lee Bryan, passed away peacefully under hospice care Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022 at The Oaks of Orangeburg.  She was a retired Librarian with the Colleton County Library, was the oldest member of Tabor United Methodist Church, and was 92.

Dora was the youngest daughter of Angela Mae Martin Beach and Charlie Hiers Beach.  She loved the Tabor community where she grew up as a child and spent most of her adult life.  She went to Tabor school and then graduated from Walterboro High School in 1947.  She loved Tabor Church and her church family.  Dora was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Ladies Society, and held many positions in the church over the years.  She was also a member of H2U and the "Lunch Bunch".

Dora is survived by her daughter Charlotte Berry, son-in-law Larry Berry, grandaughter Holly Cavanaugh, and grandson-in-law Bill Cavanaugh.  She is also survived by her daughter Deborah Wasson, and son-in-law John Wasson.  She leaves behind her son Harry "Bubba" Bryan, and daughter-in-law Kim.  She is survived by her brother Sid Beach, as well as by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She leaves behind special friends Pete and Mazie Adams, Terry Benton, Toni Baker, and a lifelong friend Collen Bryan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dora was predeceased by her daughter Bonnie Ackerman, by her grandson Bryan Benton, by her great-granddaughter Maycen Coberly, and by her sisters Rumell Beach Stephens and Cleo Beach Woolverton.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Oaks of Orangeburg (Especially Piedmont Hall) for all their love and care, and also Crescent Hospice for their love and kindness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 at Tabor United Methodist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons Wesley, Robert and Ryan Ackerman, her great-grandsons Hayden Ackerman and Miles Cavanaugh, and a special friend Jason Cavanaugh.
