Doris Bone, 100 years old, passed away peacefully in Aiken, SC on Friday, February 7, 2025, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bone was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 50 years, the late Paul William (Bill) Bone Sr, a prominent Walterboro photographer and business owner. She was born December 21,1924 in Walterboro, SC, and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Ivey Smoak and Lucille Glover Smoak. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by brothers Joseph I. Smoak, Harold D. Smoak, and Bernice M. Smoak.

Mrs. Bone is survived by her three children, Paul W. Bone, Jr. (Beth) of Vidalia, GA, Suzanne B. Simmons of Aiken, SC, and Thomas (Tom) M. Bone (Suzanne) of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren, Shelley G. Gates (Jeffrey) of Greensboro, NC, Luann B. Roe (Brian) of Townsend, GA, Rick Bone of Vidalia, GA, Katie B. Hamilton (Brian) of Vidalia, GA, Michael Bone of Carbondale, CO, and Sarah B. Monson (Eric) of Summerville, SC; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Walterboro, Mrs. Bone was active in the Will Goodwin Sunday School Class and the Lula Strickland Circle. She worked for the SCE&G company in her younger years, then the Edwin Saunders, H. S. Price, and the Steadman Insurance Agencies in Walterboro.

Mrs. Bone was a long-standing member of the Glover Family Association, and its Matriarch for many years. In addition, she was a member of a Canasta club, Bridge club, and the Red Hat Society of Walterboro. She loved to crochet, and was an excellent artist and seamstress. She created many artistic designs which are enjoyed by many to this day. Mrs. Bone was also an excellent cook and loved entertaining family and friends. She especially enjoyed making holidays special for her loved ones.

Mrs. Bone loved Walterboro, loved telling stories of her childhood, and all about Walterboro in the 'good old days.' She will be missed by family, friends, and the special friendships she made with loving caregivers at both Cumberland Village and the Aiken Memory Care facilities in Aiken, SC.

There will be a graveside Celebration of Life at the Green Lawn Memorial Cemetery on Monday, February 10 at 1:00 pm.
