Obituary

ROUND O: Dorothy Ilderton Seigler, wife of the late Hubert Berlis Seigler, passed away Wednesday afternoon at her home. She was 90.

Mrs. Seigler was born in Summerville October 14, 1924, one of eleven children of the late Robert E. Lee Ilderton and Lillian Drose Ilderton. She retired as a certified nursing assistant from Oakwood Nursing Home in Walterboro, and was a member of the Bedon Baptist Church. Mrs. Seigler was the matriarch and cornerstone of her family, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and she loved to spend time reading and being outdoors fishing.


She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Cone and Lynn Starks of Round O. There are nine grandchildren: Terri Youmans (Joey), Mike Hardee (Wanda), Tina Pye (Mickey Joe), Trent Cone, Shannan Woovis (Georgie), Erin Womack (Andy), Dawn Fraser (Freddie), Casey Beach (Lucas), and Brianne Youmans. There are seventeen great-grandchildren. She leaves behind six siblings: Harriott Rice of Givhans, Shirley Plexico (J.L.) of Georgetown, Laverne Williamson (Fred) of St. George, Skottowe Ilderton (Nina) of Summerville, Allen Ildeton (Deana) of Ruffin, and Mark Ilderton (Sharon) of Moncks Corner. She has a surviving son-in-law, Eugene Hardee of Walterboro, a daughter-in-law Dale Seigler of Round O, a special neighbor and friend Gladys Benton, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Seigler and by a daughter Barbara Hardee.


Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Bedon Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.
