Obituary

CANADAYS: E. Frances Hiott passed away Friday evening February 10, 2017 at the St. George Health Care Center. She was 89.

Frances was born in Colleton County September 6, 1927 a daughter of the late Tommy Joseph Hiott and Bessie Bishop Hiott. She was an icon in the Canadays community, having owned and operated "The Penny Pincher" general store and gas station for over 75 years. She was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer.

She is survived by her brother, T.J. Hiott of Columbia, and by her sister, Leona Fennell of Walterboro. Although she had no children of her own, she leaves behind ten nieces she loved dearly: Eleanor, Tillene, Wendy, Bonnie, Lawanda, Linda, Celeste, Kim, Lorie, and Cecila as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd Hiott, Lucas Hiott, Winona Fox, Cecil Hiott and Helen Knight and a nephew, Floyd Hiott Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
