RUFFIN: Mrs. Earldean Givens Kelly, wife of the late Raymond D. Kelly, passed away, Sunday, February 21, at NHC in Anderson, SC. She was 92.
Mrs. Kelly was born August 10, 1923 a daughter of the late David Nicholas Givens and Rosa Breland Givens. She was a life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Ruffin, SC. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, sang in the choir and was involved in many activities in her beloved church. One of her favorite service ministries was baking muffins to be delivered to friends and family by Ray (a/k/a) Ddaddy.
She was also involved in various community projects. She was an active member of the Clemson Extension, Colleton F.C.L. Club. She won several awards for her beautiful handwork, including cross stitching, embroidery, and cut work. Her family was blessed to receive a lovely creation each Christmas and for other occasions. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her name to most family and friends was Nana K. She retired from working for Drs. Breland and Reynolds Optometry and was always loved and remembered by the doctors and their patients. Her sweet disposition and loving hugs will be missed by many.
She is survived by daughters, Patsy K. Greene (Howard) of Pendleton, SC, Ramona K. Hoffman (Michael - deceased) of Lexington, SC and Rose Mary Bishop of Evans, GA. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Douglas H. Greene, Bryan K. Greene (Lynn), Carmen B. McGahee (Patrick), John L. Bishop III and four great grandchildren; Reilly D. Greene, Chase M. Greene, Collin D. Greene, Brock Drawdy Greene, and Preston Harvey McGahee, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Givens Mills and two brothers, Theus Givens and Edward Givens.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, at 2:00 PM in the Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin Circuit, followed by interment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro. The family will receive friends beginning 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church,c/o Carolyn Breland, 573 Spencer Drive, Ruffin, SC 29475 or to Epworth Children's Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.
