WALTERBORO: Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Faulling Craven, wife of the late Burnett P. Craven Sr., died early Monday morning at her home in Walterboro. She was 89.
Mrs. Craven was born in Russellville, SC July 30, 1926, the oldest of eleven children of the late Patrick and Mattie Lee Pipkin Faulling. She was employed with the Manhattan Shirt Factory in North Charleston for over seventeen years. Mrs. Craven was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, and loved cooking and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and conducted her life as a true Christian.
She is survived by her children: Burnett P. Craven Jr. (Barbara), and George E. Craven (Mary Ann) of Summerville, Linda C. Singleton and Sandra C. Wilson (Lee) of Ladson, and Elaine C. Saxon (Joe) of Walterboro. She has one brother, Ed Faulling (Vida Mae), and one sister, Julia F. Tairney (Earl), both of St. Stephens. There are thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a special caregiver, Tracy Rahn. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jackie Craven.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Edgewood Baptist Church, with committal services that afternoon at 2:30 at Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, SC 29488.
