WALTERBORO: Mrs. Elizabeth K. Dean, wife of the late Richard Thaddeus Dean, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday morning September 20, 2016, in the very home she was born in exactly 100 years ago on September 20, 1916.
Mrs. Dean was a daughter of James Henry Koger and Susie Calfee Koger. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, and spent her career as an accountant for both Rhodes Oil Company and Asten Hill. She was a lifelong member, and the oldest member, of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted mother, and loved to travel, having been on cruises as late as her 97th birthday.
She is survived by two children: William Henry Dean of Hanahan, SC, and Susan Dean (Beth Godbee) of Duluth, GA. There are two step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Bethel Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
