Obituary

WALTERBORO: Elizabeth "Betsy" Bennett Moody, wife of the late Lee Ray Moody, passed away at her home Thursday afternoon surrounded by her loving family. She was 75.

Mrs. Moody was born in Walterboro February 5, 1941 a daughter of Evelyn Martin Bennett and the late Dr. William Marshall Bennett. She attended the Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Throughout her career, she served as a floor nurse, a nursing instructor, and as the director of nursing with the Department of Health and Environmental Control in Colleton County. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her many pets, and especially enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and enjoying nature.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children: Scott Moody and wife Lynn of Charlotte, and Kim Rencken and husband Gunther of Ruffin. There are four grandchildren: Lee, Elizabeth, Marshall and Lauren. Mrs. Moody leaves behind her siblings: Ellen Lumpkin of Edisto Island, Neyle Bennett of Lexington, and William Bennett of Walterboro. She has a sister-in-law she dearly loved, Laura Moody of Charleston, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Newman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Moody will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Lighthouse Fund at MUSC. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
