Elva Ann Muckenfuss, 91, entered the gates of heaven to be reunited with many loved ones on Sunday July 14, 2024.

Born in Cottageville in 1932, Elva was one of eight children and was the daughter of the late Fred and Leila Peters Ackerman. She graduated from Cottageville High School, and worked to retirement at Carolina Ceramics in Columbia, SC.

Elva was a beloved member of Windsor United Methodist church in Columbia followed by Cottageville Methodist Church after retiring and relocating back to her home town of Cottageville, SC. She also spent many of her days in retirement taking part in the Red Hat Society where she had many friends who were like family.

Elva was blessed beyond measure in her time on Earth and was loved deeply throughout many communities. She lost her husband, Morris, while her boys were young and never skipped a beat in raising them with love. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Many of her favorite times were spent on the boat with loved ones, and enjoying her slice of heaven right on the beautiful Edisto River. She loved the Lord and lived an incredibly faith-filled life, leading family to Jesus and praying everyday. She was a wonderful cook and loved to spend time expressing her love for others through her cooking. Upon retiring in Columbia, she moved to Beaufort, SC and was an integral part of raising her 2 eldest grandchildren and would later return to Cottageville to her property on the river where many memories were made with those she loved the most.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Richard and Rachel Muckenfuss of Columbia, Rodney and Susan Muckenfuss of Beaufort, and Scott and Regan Cronin Muckenfuss of Chapin. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kayla Smith of Savannah, GA, Elva Feltner (Ellie) of Beaufort, Karli Price of Chapin, Madison Morris and Taylor Muckenfuss of Columbia, and her three great-grandchildren, Crew Feltner, Wells Smith and Evelyn Feltner (Evie).

She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved husband, Meminger Morris Muckenfuss, her stillborn child, her seven siblings, Marcaliese Strickland, Mary Cone, Bernard, Guy, Glen, Richmond, and Fred Ackerman, and many other loved ones.

The family will receive flowers, or memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at givenow.lls.org.  The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Generations Assisted living in Chapin, SC and The Oaks Nursing Home in Beaufort, for their care in her final years.

Funeral services will be held at the Cottageville Community Methodist Church on Thursday morning, July 18, 2024 at 11:00, with burial following at the Jordan Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 in the church sanctuary.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro, is in charge of arrangements.
