"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31
Eva Kathryn Wood Preveaux, 80, beloved mother of Reverend Brian Preveaux, passed away peacefully at The Gardens at Sumter on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on April 8, 1944, the daughter of the late Douglas H. Wood and the late Dolores May Wood.
Eva graduated from Ferndale Baptist Church School in North Charleston, where she was valedictorian of her class. In the past, she had worked in the banking industry in both Walterboro and Summerville. In her free time, she enjoyed cross stitching. An animal lover, she found great joy in having a dog or cat nearby taking in many stray animals through the years. She was a caring person with a wonderful personality that enjoyed being around people.
Eva was very involved at Canaan Baptist Church, having played the piano there for many years. Even though we will miss her greatly, we rejoice in her life and rejoice that she has now entered the kingdom of heaven and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband that taught her to love life in the country, Ronald D. Preveaux, a son, David Kevin Preveaux; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Nettles Preveaux, and her in-laws, Howell E. Easterling, Jr. and Lula Griffin Easterling.
She is survived by a son, Reverend Brian E. Preveaux and his wife, Joy Smyly Preveaux of Mullins; her grandchildren, Allen (Leslie) Preveaux of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Steven (Courtney) Preveaux of Ohio, Erin Preveaux (Johnny Dees) of Cottageville, South Carolina, and Matthew (Ashley) Preveaux of Sarasota, Florida; great-grandchildren, Emma Preveaux and Natalie Preveaux of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Jaxon Preveaux of Ohio, and Logan Dees of Cottageville, South Carolina.
A graveside service will be held in Walterboro at a later time.
If you would like to remember Eva, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
