WALTERBORO :     Mrs. Fay Annette Spires Elkins, widow of the late Gilbert G. Elkins Sr., passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 25, 2023 at her home in Walterboro.  She was 86.

Mrs. Elkins was born in Columbia, SC July 6, 1936 a daughter of the late William Raymond Spires and Ruth Iris Sightler Spires.  She was a homemaker, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children Wanda Elkins, Gail Elkins, Gilbert Elkins Jr. (Kathy), and John Elkins.  She has one brother Travis Spires, as well as six grandchildren:  Bert, Seth, Jon, Dylan and Leah Elkins, and Jason Benton.  There are nine great-grandchildren:  Addison, Liam and Hunter Benton, Gordan, Sebastain, Gabriel and Sophia Elkins, and Hayden and Harlen Lee.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Elkins was preceded in death by her siblings Donald, Karol, Lena, and Sara.

Funeral services will be held privately.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street is in charge of arrangements.
