Obituary

Frances Beach passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 30th, 2023 at the age of 90. Frances was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was well-loved and will be greatly missed.  She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Clara, her siblings Mary, Lucille, Burrell, Jessie, Vernon and Calbern, her husband Bobby, her granddaughter Kendra, and her son-in-law Scott. She is survived by her three children Mark (Cathy), Kay (Ricky), and Kim, as well as five grandchildren: Emily (Darren), Kristina (Ben) Katelyn (Tyler), Jillian, and Joey. She leaves behind six (soon to be seven) great grandchildren Sebastian, Theo, Isla, Rorie, Isaac and Elliott, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

With a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Winthrop University and a master's in Nutrition from the Citadel, she dedicated over thirty years of her life to serving as a high school teacher. She generously contributed her time and talents to many community causes including Shepherds Care Alzheimer's Center and Project Linus, and crafted numerous costumes and uniforms for the local Band of Blue, children's theater productions, and other charitable endeavors. She was an avid quilter and taught many friends and family the art.  She loved creating beautiful things for others including smocked children's outfits, quilts and more. She perfected any creative endeavor she attempted.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Bethel Methodist United Church in Walterboro on Saturday, October 7th at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to MUSC's HCC Lighthouse Fund for Patients with Gynecological Cancers would be appreciated. This fund is special to Frances as it was established by her beloved granddaughter, Kendra, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in September of 2015.
