WALTERBORO: Mr. Francis Boles Thomas, husband of Nancy Longeway Thomas, died at his home Monday morning after an extended illness. He was 75.
Mr. Thomas was born in Smoaks September 5, 1939 a son of the late Francis Bessinger Thomas and Llewellyn Boles Thomas. He attended Clemson, and was a veteran of the United States Army. In his earlier days he worked with his father at their poultry farm, and later became a salesman for various food supply companies. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, and was an avid fan of Clemson football.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Francis B. Thomas Jr. of Jupiter, FL, Tracie T. Ramsey (Jackie) of Yemassee, and Jennifer T. McGhee (Marvin) of Columbia. There is one sister, Lou Edens of Mt. Pleasant, two grandchildren, Karen Ramsey and Karol Catterton (C.J.), and one great-granddaughter Mila Catterton. He was preceded in death by a brother John Thomas.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at Greenlawn Memorial gardens in Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either FOCCAS (Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter), 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, SC 29488 or to the Trevor Hudson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
