WALTERBORO: Sonja Gail Hiers Jones, wife of Jackie Dwight Phillips, passed away Sunday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was 65.

Gail was born August 6, 1950 in Walterboro, the daughter of the late Thomas Legree Hiers and Lillian Sue Maxey Hiers. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Church, and was a well-known salesperson for Hobo Joe's Fireworks for over fifteen years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Bruce Sandiford (Allison) of Walterboro, Renee Puckett (Mark) of Orlando, FL, and Ticha Romanelli (Neil) of Cottageville. There are seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Hiers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM at the Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.
