WALTERBORO: George Harold "Happy" Hadwin, husband of the late Marie Avant Hadwin for 71 years, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Colleton Medical Center. He was 93.


Mr. Hadwin was born Jan. 24, 1922 in Varnville, SC, a son of the late John Allen Hadwin and Leonora Gooding Hadwin. He was a graduate of Varnville High School, class of 1939 and was past owner of Hadwin Shell Service Station. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a son, George Michael Hadwin (RoseMary) of Cottgeville; two daughters, Darlene H. Huggins of Goose Creek and Lynn H. Nettles (Jimmy) of Walterboro; 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Hadwin; a granddaughter, Angie Drawdy; and two brothers, James Allen Hadwin and Don Hadwin.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7,2015 at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St. Walterboro, SC.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Friends of the Colleton County Library.
