Obituary

WALTERBORO: Mrs. Grace Crosby Sanders, widow of the late Eugene William "Billy" Sanders Jr., passed away at her home Monday morning, November 21, 2022 under hospice care, with her family by her side.  She was 93.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Walterboro April 4, 1929 a daughter of the late Stephen Martin Crosby and Fay Rebecca Crosby.  She was a homemaker, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time at her home on Edisto Beach. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Eugene "Steve" Sanders (Betty Llew) of Walterboro, and Eugene William "Sandy" Sanders III (Carol) of Charleston.  She leaves behind her grandchildren:  Caroline Hooker (Matt), Ellyn Alexander (John), Faye Whitehead (Brad), Elizabeth Varn, Henry Varn Jr., Sarah Sanders, and Sydney Sanders.  There are seven great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Sanders is also survived by her son-in-law Henry Varn.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Sanders Varn, and by her sister Edythe Crosby Buress

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers Carolyn, LaDana, Estelle, Mary, Kay and Beverly.  They also wish to thank Edisto Hospice and its nurses for the excellent care they all gave to Mrs. Sanders during her illness and passing.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022 at 11:00 at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
