COTTAGEVILLE: Mr. Harry Franklin Smith passed away Thursday morning at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 81.
Harry was born in Ludowici, GA January 20, 1935 a son of the late Johnny and Hortense Sallette Smith. For the past 28 years he was a well-known employee of the Walmart in Walterboro…always eager to share a good conversation with a fellow worker or shopper alike. He possessed an outgoing personality, and never failed to help anyone in need. Harry was a member of the Cottageville Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.
Harry is survived by a niece, Phyllis Ward (John) of Jesup, GA, and by two nephews, William Smith (Imogene) of Jesup, and Johnny Odum (Mary) of Darien, GA. There are a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon January 16, 2016 at 2:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro. All employees of Walmart that attend are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will take place on Tuesday January 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Jones Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ludowici, GA. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
