WALTERBORO: Mr. Jackie Kay Barnes Sr., husband of Paulette Bunton Barnes, died Saturday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was 69.
Mr. Barnes was born in Walterboro September 4, 1945 a son of the late Samuel M. Barnes Sr. and Roberta Headden Barnes. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a self-employed professional painter. He was a member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church, where he served as a Deacon and was responsible for the maintenance of the church grounds and sanctuary. Jackie loved to spend time outdoors, and his favorite times were spent enjoying God's creation through fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jackie Kay Barnes Jr. (Kimberly), Terry Barnes (Misty), and Janice Barnes (Sidney Beach), all of Walterboro, and Tanya Barnes (Bubba Smyly) of Ruffin. There are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Barnes also leaves behind his siblings: Samuel M. Barnes Jr., and Shirley Varn (Grady) of Walterboro, and Caroline Moyette (Angelo), of St. George.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Full Gospel Holiness Church. Burial will take place following the service. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be made in his memory to the Full Gospel Holliness Church, 3814 Jeffries Highway, Walterboro, SC 29488.
