RUFFIN: Mr. James Doby Huckabee, Jr., husband of the late Eunice W. Huckabee, died Sunday afternoon at his residence. He was 81.

Mr. Huckabee was born May 1, 1934 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late James Doby Huckabee, Sr. and Vivian Kestler Huckabee. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and retired as a general foreman from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Shop #30. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Post 93 in Walterboro.

He is survived by two sons: R. David Huckabee of Charleston, and James D. Huckabee, III (Teresa) of Ladson. There are three daughters, Janet Lee Huckabee of Walterboro, Joanne Huckabee of Aiken and Christine Huckabee of Charleston as well as two step-daughters, Angela W. Smiley (Glenn) of Walterboro and Patricia W. Wood of Arlington, SD. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Thursday afternoon in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
