WALTERBORO:     Mr. James Edward Ramey III, husband of Catherine Hiott Ramey, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, December 16, 2023 at his home in Walterboro, under hospice care, with his family by his side.  He was 62.

James was born in Monticello, Indiana January 27, 1961, a son of the late James Edward Ramey Jr. and Nancy Lee Rogers Ramey.  He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from high school, and spent the next twenty years serving on various ships throughout the fleet.  He was a veteran of Desert Storm, and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

In addition to his beloved wife of 37 years, he is survived by his children Christopher James Ramey, Mikalah Suzanne Ramey, Kaitlyn Taylor Ramey (Andrell), and Tara Michelle Ramey.  He leaves behind a grandson, Emmett James Harley, and his brothers Mark Alan Ramey (Patty) and Brad Lee Ramey (Sandy).

Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 at the Beaufort National Cemetery.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
