Round O:     Mrs. Jan Mizell Canaday, wife of Ernest Canaday, passed away Tuesday evening, April 15, 2025 at the Colleton Medical Center after an extended illness.  She was 68.

Jan was born in Ridgeville, SC  June 29, 1956 a daughter of the late John Henry Mizell and the late Blanche Walters Mizell.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Colleton Medical Center and the Colleton County Board of Disabilities, before working for…and retiring from…The South Carolina Department of Corrections.  Jan loved to cross-stitch, read, and spend time with her family.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, she is survived by her sons Kevin Canaday (Rebecca) and Robert Canaday (Lindsey).  She leaves behind her six grandchildren  Kaira, Sheldon, Bristol, Mackenzie, Carly and Olivia, and her two great-grandchildren Ayden and Henzleigh.  She is also survived by her brother David Mizell and his wife Linda.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Edward Mizell, Rev. James Henry Mizell, and Emily Craven.  The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to Tina Matthews for lovingly caring for Jan throughout her sickness and passing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funereal Home, with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 at the funeral home.
