Janet Sauls McMurray, 98, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022. Born May 13, 1924 in Smoaks, SC, she was a daughter of the late David Eric Sauls and Mary Padgett Sauls.

A graduate of Winthrop University, Janet worked and retired as an administrative assistant for South Carolina Department of Education and South Carolina Employment Security Commission. She was active with church and school activities.

Surviving are her son, Thomas D. McMurray (Donna) of Chapin SC, daughter-in-law, Kathy McMurray of Iowa Park, TX, brother, David Eric Sauls, Jr. of Smoaks SC, grandchildren, Ed McMurray (Kathleen) of Lubbock, TX, Lindsey Zyrski (Chris) of Groton, CT, Connor McMurray (Kari) of Norfolk, VA, Haley McMurray (Britton) of Oslo, Norway, and five great-grandchildren, Kasey Merriott (Caleb), Nathan, Caitlin, Emily and Sarah.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Edward McMurray and son, John E. McMurray, Jr.

A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 at the Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
