Obituary

RUFFIN:         Mr. Jayson Dorman "J.D." Berry, husband of Dorothy Fender Berry, passed away Saturday evening at the Pruitt Health Care Center in Walterboro.  He was 92.

"J.D." was born in Colleton County January 10, 1926 a son of the late Thomas Hamilton Berry and Eliza Crosby Berry.  He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, having served in the European Theatre of operations.  "J.D." was a retired truck driver from both Howard E. Thomas, Inc. and Carolina Visuals.  He was a member of the Tabor United Methodist Church and the Woodman of The World, and in his free time he enjoyed farming and traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children,  Randall Jayson Berry (Wendy) of Ruffin, and Teresa Berry Barrineau (James) of Yemassee.  There is one grandson, Lance Christian Barrineau, and one step-grandson, Jamie G. Barrineau.  Mr. Berry leaves behind two step great-grandchildren, Lacey and Jake Barrineau.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold C. Berry and Herman W. Berry.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2018 at 3:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 at the funeral home, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Church Cemetery Fund.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
