WALTERBORO: Mrs. Dorothy Jean Langford Headden, wife of the late Ronald Lewis Headden, passed away Friday evening, January 9, 2026 at Oakleaf Village in Lexington after a period of declining health. She was 80.
Mrs. Headden was born in Greer, SC, October 16, 1945, a daughter of the late Frances Ellen Edwards Langford, and the late James Everette Langford. She spent her career as a bookkeeper for various businesses…including those owned by her late husband…before working for, and retiring from, the Colleton County Tax Assesor's Office. Mrs. Headden was a true Christian woman, and her life demonstrated that fact. She was a member of Academy Road Baptist Church for most of her life, but had also attended Faith Church. One of her favorite pastimes was shagging, and teaching others the state dance as well. She loved her family with all of her heart, and being called "Grandma" by her grands and great-grands was her proudest accomplishment of all.
She is survived by her sons Richard Steven Headden (Kathy) and Alan Stacy Headden (Michelle), as well as by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, her parents, and her siblings, she was preceded in death by a son, William Scott "Scottie" Headden.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2026, with funeral services following at 2:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro. She will be interred beside her late husband and son at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
