WALTERBORO: Mrs. Jean Bowers Warren, wife of James Warren, died Monday evening at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Carolina surrounded by her loving family. She was 74.

Mrs. Warren was born March 24, 1941 in Beaufort, a daughter of the late Marion D. Bowers and Ruth Smith Bowers. She was the former plant manager for Dyna-Matic in Walterboro before becoming the office manager for Floralife, a position she held for thirteen years before her retirement. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro where she served on various committees, and was a member of the Jacksonboro Baptist Church at the time of her passing. Jean was a former president of the Walterboro Jaycee-etts, was a former chairman of the Colleton County Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Colleton County Vocational Rehabilitation Board. She was an avid bridge player, a wonderful southern cook, and a devoted wife and mother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: James Hettrick "Rick" Warren, III of Atlanta, Sandra Warren Darling of Charleston, Randall T. "Randy" Warren (Sydney) of Charlotte, and Clifton M. "Cliff" Warren (Hope) of Green Pond. She has two sisters, Carolyn Hancock of Beaufort and Peggy Heaton of Florida. There are also five grandchildren: Christin Darling, Lucas Darling, Harry Warren, Amber Warren and Davis Warren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jean Warren, by a sister Nan Kilpatrick and by a brother, Jimmy Bowers.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers for their constant love and support: Shirley McFadden, Lavonda Gregory, Mary Washington, Queen Coaxum, Robin Varn, Anna Bond, and Janice Reed. They also wish to acknowledge the superior care they received from Hospice Care of South Carolina during Jean's illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Jacksonboro Baptist Church, P.O.B. 129, Jacksonboro, SC 29452.
