Obituary

WALTERBORO :   Mr. Jerald S. Davis, husband of Susie Craven Davis, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning at Roper Hospital in Charleston.  He was 68.

Jerald was born in Greenville, SC December 1, 1949 a son of the late James Alfred Davis and Doris Eppes Davis.  He was a retired car salesman, and was also the retired owner and operator of Davis Electronics.  He was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Jerald was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt deer, turkey, rabbit and bear.  He was eager to share stories of his adventures in the great outdoors along with a few tall tales. Jerald was always ready with great advice for the many people he had befriended. He was the president of the Wildwood Hunting Club.

In addition to his wife of 28 years, he is survived by his children:  Karyn Davis Corbett (Mitchell) of Walterboro, Stacy Davis Smoak (Matt) of Ruffin, and Sherri Ulmer, Melissa Ulmer Evans (Gary) and Jerald Davis Jr. (Katie), all of Walterboro.  There are nine grandchildren:  Andrew Barnes, Campbell Crosby, Bailey Crosby, Carter Smoak, Cooper Corbett, Hailey Grooms, Greyson Davis Smoak, Paisley Davis, and Abagail Evans.  Jerald has one brother, Jim Davis of Greenville, and two sisters, Joan Buchanan of Greenville, and Donna Pinckney of Walterboro.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Wynn.  He leaves behind a special life-long friend, Ray Motte, and many other dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the Great Swamp Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lowcountry Field of Dreams, 3323 State Road, Ridgeville, SC (lowcountryfieldofdreams.com).  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
