Obituary

WALTERBORO: Jerry Lee Fowler, husband of Linda Risher Fowler, died Sunday evening January 15, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 67.

Jerry was born Feb. 15, 1949 in Atlanta, GA, a son of the late Jesse Lee Fowler and Claudell Wall Fowler. He was a US Army veteran, and had been the owner and operator of Fowler Land Surveying in Walterboro service 1993. In July of 2016, he was recognized by his peers for 24 years of outstanding service in land surveying. He was a graduate of both the Southern Technical Institute in Marietta, GA and the DeKalb Community College in Clarkston, GA. Jerry was a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge #55, and he was an excellent fisherman, having competed in countless bass tournaments across South Carolina and the country.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stephany Downie (Charles) of Fayetteville, NC, Robert H. Fowler (Barbie) of Easley, SC, and Brandon E. Fowler. There is a stepson, Robert W. Goodwin of Rhode Island. He has five grandchildren: Ethan, Dayne, Emme and Breanna Downie, and Lily Fowler. There is one brother, Ray Fowler (Judy) of Auburn, GA and two sisters-in-law, Judy Headden (Don) and Sandra Risher of Charleston. There is a host of nieces and nephews, great nephews, and a great niece. Jerry leaves behind his devoted secretary and family friend Wanda Bailey and her husband VonLehe Bailey. He was preceded in death by a brother James Robert Fowler.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA.
