WALTERBORO:     Mrs. Jessie Mae Smoak Hiott, widow of the late Carsie Ezekiel Hiott Sr., died Thursday evening, September 14, 2023 at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  She was 93.

Mrs. Hiott was born in Colleton County September 14, 1930 a daughter of the late Ira and Arthie Garvin Smoak.  She had served as a nursing assistant at Oakwood Healthcare Center for many years, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  At the time of her husband's passing in 1998, they had been married for fifty-four years.

Mrs. Hiott is survived by her daughters Nora Irvin Driver and Carolyn Jones.  There are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death this past March by her son, Carsie Ezekiel Hiott Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday morning, September 18, 2023 at 11:00 at Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
