WALTERBORO :    James A. "Jimmy" Ashley, affectionately known to many as "Bandit", passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  He was 59.

Jimmy was born in Aiken, SC October 22, 1963 a son of the late Feaster Bobby Ashley and Nellie Josephine Patterson Ashley.  He was a well-known trucker in Colleton County, equally comfortable behind the wheel of log trucks, rock trucks or chip trucks.  He loved being out in his boat on the river, and was an avid fan of Clemson football.  He enjoyed classic Rock-and-Roll music, and two of his favorite movies were "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Any Which Way You Can"..the lines to both which he knew by heart.  Jimmy was a hard working, good-hearted man who would do anything for anyone, and he will truly be missed.

He is survived by his brother, Stephen Ashley of Elloree, and by his nephews Cody Ashley (Hayley) and Braxton Ashley.  He also leaves behind his grand-niece Ella Rose Ashley, and his beloved cat "Festus".

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday evening, January 2, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Steet in Walterboro.
