WALTERBORO: John Mason Allgood, an insurance broker, professor, and the beloved father of John W. Register and Jay Manning, passed away on Saturday, Nov 25, at the Colleton Medical Center. He was 75.
A memorial service for Mr. Allgood will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, Dec 2, 2017 at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro.
Mr. Allgood was born on April 21, 1942 in Charlotte, North Carolina, a son of the late Mason Allgood and Jaunita Coe Allgood. Mr Allgood was a history professor at the University of Montevallo (AL), and was later the owner and operator of Carrier Insurance, Meadowlake Gardens, and Blueberry Hill Enterprises. Mr. Allgood was known for his love of God, and served as a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed gardening, and ran Meadowlake Gardens with his beloved late wife Ruth Ann Allgood.
Mr. Allgood is survived by his two sons, John Register and Jay Manning.
Friends may visit with the family after the memorial service in the sanctuary.
