John J. "Johnny" Horan, V, 32, of Norwich, CT passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Walterboro, SC.

He was born in Norwich on December 29, 1991 to John J. Horan, IV, and Shirley L. (Daniels) Horan.

Whether you knew him as John, Johnny, Johnny 5, J.J, or Johnny Boy, you knew that he was a charming young man whose smile would light up a room, that he had a kind heart, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. He loved his family immensely, as well as his dog "Ryder" and his chickens, which he referred to as his girls.

Growing up in Montville, he was active in Judo, wrestling, and football. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Competitive weightlifting was a passion of his, and he somehow also found time to be a volunteer fireman with the Yantic Fire Department.

Johnny was a graduate of Montville High School and attended Three Rivers Community College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps where he served from 2014 to 2018.

Johnny worked as a lineman with the Local Union #42. He traveled throughout the country for work, including trips to California where he did helicopter line work which he loved. He was a hard worker and a great teacher who had the patience to guide his crew. No matter how bad the situation became he was always calm, respectful, and funny.

Johnny is survived by his mother Shirley, who thought of her son as the smartest and most handsome man in the world, and his father John, IV, who cherished every moment spent with him and was proud of the man Johnny has become. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Kathleen P. (Galanis) Daniels; sister Jessica M. Clemet and husband Mike, of Massachusetts; nephew Grayson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; along with brother linemen from Local 42 and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Retired Cpt. John J. Horan III, U.S Navy, and Margaret Ann (Bottcher) Frechette, and his maternal grandfather Raymond Francis Daniels, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 260 Harland Rd, Norwich, CT.
