WALTERBORO :    Mrs. Joyce Lee Carter, wife of the late Richard E. "Buddy" Carter, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  She was 80.

Mrs. Carter was born in Florence, SC February 11, 1941 a daughter of the late Harry and Jenny Phillips O'Quinn.  She was a constant companion to her husband before his death in 2020, and they had shared fifty-four years of wonderful marriage together.  She helped him in his business endeavors including The Pet Shop, The Caddyshack Driving Range, and the Caddyshack Nursery.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a friend to all.

She is survived by her children:  Richard Christopher Carter of Walterboro, Stephen Whitney Carter of Ladson, and Jennifer Lee Carter Stone (Michael) of Walterboro.  She leaves behind her grandchildren Jesse, Cole, Alex, Allison and Candace.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Madison Louise Rooney.

The family will receive friends during a time of remembrance and celebration on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
