WALTERBORO: Mrs. Joyce Nix Jones, wife of the late Raymond Neal Jones Sr., passed away Tuesday morning June 19, 2018 at her home on McLeod Road.  She was 79.

Mrs. Jones was born in Lobeco, July 30, 1938 a daughter of the late Aaron Jacob Nix Sr., and Annie Lucille Johnston Nix.  She was a former employee of Teledyne Manufacturing in Walterboro, and later worked in the business office at the Colleton Medical Center.  She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School.  She loved cats, and was always ready to take in an abandoned animal.  She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her children:  Linda Joyce Bunton Jackson (James) of Walterboro, Debra Ann Bunton of Irmo, Richard Marion Bunton Jr. of Cross, Carol Delores Anderson of Nevada, and Andrew Scott Bunton Sr. (Angie) of Okatie.  There are two step-children:  Tommy Jones (Debbie) and Marjorie Moody (Jim).  She has three sisters, Harriett Lockhart, Kathy Velich, and Karen Sanguine, and one brother, Ed Nix.  There are eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, eleven step-grandchildren, and seventeen step great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a great-great granddaughter, Gloria Joyce Meza, and by six siblings.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 in the church sanctuary.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
